On the base of a long-standing boycott of the Jewish state, Film Wonder Woman, the Hollywood blockbuster has been banned by Lebanon because of its lead actress Gal Gadot, who served in the Israeli military.

With few Lebanese taunting the authorities but others receiving it as part of a campaign to isolate Israel, the decision started social media frenzy.

An official with Lebanons General Security told that based on the recommendation of the Arab Leagues Israel Boycott Office, AFP the interior ministry has decided to ban the screening of this film.

While the Arab League maintains a Damascus-based office responsible for coordinating a regional boycott of the Jewish state, Lebanon and Israel are still technically in a state of war.

After last year request, the Arab League office issues a blanket ban on all the work of the 32-year-old actress as Lebanons economy and culture ministry, which oversees the boycott of Israeli products locally, suggested the film to be banned.
